One of the focus' i will be deviating more towards is concept art. Concept Artist are illustrators that work with the production designers to realise their ideas visually. The artist has to make sure that their drawings are accurate and clear and adapting them even during filming/game. As a concept artist you would have to work in a group to make work that portrays the directors vision. I focused a bit on this subject in my previous project but never fully delved into the subject and it is a path I would like to explore more this year. Concept artist have to work more with the draughtsmen and specialist researchers to come up with more accurate adaptations of what the director wants. Concept artists are more in the realm of film and game design because of how big the projects can be and that it helps the production team/actor envision the environment around them before they set up.
Another industry I want to look into is the comic book industry. Comic artists make comic strips or contribute to only part of the comic. As a comic illustrator they tell stories about everyday situations, recent trends/events and made-up worlds. Like a concept artist, you can work with a group of other artists to create a comic.
Both these jobs are very competetive to get into, and you must be very talented to succeed. However the demand for concept artist is less then the demand for comic illustrators as being a concept artist is more a freelance job unless you are making your own comic book.
I want to focus more on these jobs because I like the process of making characters and environments that tells a story. For this project I want to create more work focused on these two jobs.
