I created sketch ideas for what the levels and environments would look like. I only used shapes and angles to get a basic idea of what i wanted for each scene.
For the bed room I wanted it to be a slopped roof to imply that Raf's bedroom is in the attic. Each of the items in his bedroom will show up in some of the designs for characters and environments.
The second sketch is of the cliff scene at the end of the game. Raf's end goal in their dreams is to see the galaxy in the night sky but as they go through the game they realise that they will have to eliminate enemies and lights (so they can see the night sky better).
The next page is different level ideas I sketched. Its a very simple rendition of what I want for the level.
The last page is of the Boss level and the enemy designs. The main boss at level 10 is a giant hand that is protecting a electrical plant is using up too much electricity. The goal of the boss is to kill the hand with rocks and bottles so he will crash into the plant. The other enemies are humanoid creatures that Raf has to avoid; you can't kill them but you can distract them with the noise of a broken bottle so they will turn away.
