Day of Exhibition

The day of our exhibition was very hectic in the morning, the curators at this point just wanted to go home and the day hadn’t even began yet.

Students apparent felt segregated during the day; I understand that we as curators were doing most of the work, but that was only because no one bothered to do some of their own work. After Emma and Alejandra gave their presentation on what we had to do for our PDFs I think people realised that they hadn’t done anything for the creation of OUR exhibition.

It was nice of them to at least help on the day because we still had a couple of pieces that needed to go up and work was still coming in from students that hadn’t bothered to bring it in.

It was nice, really but then I realised that people were leaving at 1 pm… there was still work that needed to be done and people were leaving after complaining that the exhibition wasn’t the way they wanted it…

I’m not going to tell you how inconsiderate this was because as curators we tried to make the space look as nice as we could, we tried to give people room to show their work. But I don’t think they realised that we don’t have enough room to be placing 15 pieces from one person, we don’t have space in the main room so we put them in the hall… and they have the audacity to complain when they could get up from their arse's, ask us if its ok to move the work and move the work themselves when instead they complained and walked out…

Anyway the day was just bad… during the exhibition was a bit brighter. Nick, Marisa and I helped the bar team; Corina and Charis helped us a lot during that tiring week and so we helped them with the setup of the bar and manning the table when they needed it.

over all it was a fun experience and i wouldn't mind being a curator again because now people know what the job of a curator is. Maybe if more people helped us during the week, miscommunication wouldn't have happened.

Even with all the drama we created a exhibition that we are proud of and we learned from it so hopefully for the next exhibition it will go better.
